Our Modern Foreign Language intent 

Learning a foreign language provides an opening into other cultures and allows them to communicate in another language. At Ramsey Junior School, we focus on teaching Spanish across our four year groups. Our high-quality, language education encourages pupils’ curiosity and deepens their understanding of the wider world around them. We aim to equip our children to go and study languages at secondary school, developing their independence and self-confidence. We want them to value the importance of learning a language. Children will focus on the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing based on a core foundation of vocabulary, grammar and phonics. High frequency language and key communicative functions are revisited by our children as they progress through the curriculum.
